Mad Men is an American drama series created and produced by Matthew Weiner. The series had a total of seven episodes and the final episode aired on Sunday, May 17, 2015. The series takes place in the 1960s in the setting of the fictional advertising agency Sterling Cooper on Madison Avenue in New York and later at the newly formed firm Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The series centers around Don Draper (Jon Hamm), creative director at Sterling Cooper and founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, as well as the people in his life, both in and out of the office. The plot focuses both on the activities of the agency and on the personal lives of the characters. As such, it regularly depicts the changing moods and social conditions of 1960s America. The series received critical acclaim, particularly for its historical authenticity, visual style, costumes, actors, writing and direction, and won numerous awards, including fifteen Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. It became the first and only cable series to win four consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, for its first four seasons in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
